Meet Charlie Schmidt.

Before he gave the internet its favorite musical cat, Charlie was making art in Spokane, Washington: painting, performing, designing, and experimenting with video.

In 1984, he put his cat Fatso in a little blue shirt and filmed the keyboard performance that would become a global meme. He shared it on YouTube in 2007. The rest is internet history.

Now the original creator and owner is on board for Keyboard Cat’s next chapter.
